About the Webinar

What was once the largest mass tort on the federal docket is now being approached differently, on a single-event or individual case-by-case basis.

Transvaginal mesh (TVM) is a type of plastic mesh used to treat pelvic organ prolapse, commonly called POP, and stress urinary incontinence.

Unfortunately, many women have had complications as a result of this mesh, including erosion, chronic infections, injury to other organs, pelvic pain, severe pain with sex, and urinary dysfunction. The treatment for these injuries is typically the surgical removal of the mesh, but once it is implanted, it is virtually impossible to remove entirely. This creates a permanent risk for patients who are forced to deal with injuries and other side effects for the rest of their lives.

In this webinar, SimplyConvert Director of Mass Torts Libby Vish speaks with Anapol Weiss attorney Kila Baldwin about:

  • Y mesh, a new type of mesh used to treat POP through abdominal surgery rather than vaginal surgery, that is resulting in similar injuries to patients as TVM;
  • The status of the litigation and potential jurisdictions for new cases now that the MDL has been concluded; and
  • The screening and criteria for case-by-case analyses.
